) Q: Do you only do Skippered charters? A: Yes. Our yachts are available for skippered charter only. If you feel competent enough to run a yacht, the skipper will leave you to it, IF you wish, except for berthing. Berthing will always remain the responsibility of the skipper. Q: Can we charter both catamarans together? A: Yes, but please book well in advance. The 2nd yacht will attract a discount which can either be spread over both boats, or both yachts can be charged for seperatly. We will quote you on both yachts seperatly, and then a combined price for both. Discounts for early booking will still apply. Q: Do you only do one week charters? A: No. Any duration can be arranged, provided that we have enough warning to make arrangements and do not clash bookings. Week on week works easier for charter flights from the UK, hence we work around that in the basic prices. As we are only a small outfit, we are more accomodating to guests with special requests and requirements. We can also arrange one week ashore- one week on the yacht(s), or part / part.
Q: Do you provide a hostess? A: By arrangement only, yes. Please be aware that a hostess is another person on-board so the max number of quests is reduced to 6 people. Q: Are meals included ? A: Meals are not included in the price. The skipper is capable of cooking, and helping with the cooking on-board, but this is not part of his/her job-description. If you require meals to be prepared on board, please advise us in advance so that we can discuss the hostess option. It is a little much to expect the skipper to do the skippering as well as the food, drinks and dishes. Q: How far can we go in a week? A: Theoretically we can cover 50Nm (about 100km) a day. This is a LONG way however, with about 12 hours non-stop sailing. We have found that it is better to cover around 20Nm a day, with stops for swimming and snorkeling. The lesser distance also means we do not have to get up with the sparrows to get a move on. The wind is a major factor in any longer distance trips. Strong head-winds can make for heavy going, whilst strong winds from between beam-on and astern make for very fast 'downhill' sailing. A sample itiniary is here. Although we typically do a there-and-back charters, we can quote you for one-way trips. If going places is your agenda, then this is the better option. HOWEVER in the past we have alsways felt that the holiday is the people, the places and just 'getting away from it all', not so much in how far can we go.. The choice is always yours though. Q: Do you do one-way charters? A: Yes, these can be arranged apon your request. There may be surcharges relating to getting the yacht to you and / or back to the starting point. Q: Do you charter your yachts out in other parts of Greece? A: At this point in time we only charter around the Ionian Sea. However, a long charter can be taken to other (more distant) parts of Greece provided the guests understand that we can not controll the weather. Q: Can we go to other countries (Croatia, Italy, Turkey) ? A: We are not licenced to operate charters in countries other than Greece. Q: Why should we charter a catamaran when more convential yachts of the same length seem more readily available? A: Short answer: Space and Grace. Catamarans have "Presence". Slightly longer answer: The space is just GREAT. We can COMFORTABLY sit 8 peeople in the cock-pit, without cramping anyone's style. That still leaves the saloon and trampolines free. Put 2 people in the saloon, 2 on each trampoline, and that will leave only 2 people in the cock-pit. It will feel as if you are almost alone on the yacht. The cabins. With 3 double berths avaiable for guests, there is no need to sleep in the saloon or out on deck when there are 8 people on board. With 7 guests, the skipper may sleep in the saloon or out on deck (THE prime spot in hot weather in my opinion). This type of space is only available on MUCH larger mono-hull yachts. Q: Just how FAST are your catamarns? A: We are not slow, but however we are cruising yachts. To comparable length mono-hulls we are much faster once the wind gets up to about 15knots (and above). Below 15, we do struggle a little. I have had both yachts up around the 10 knots mark with guests on board. The more people we have on the yacht, the heavier (and hence slower) we are. On my own I have once had "Jungle Cat" at a 12 hour average of 12 knots in some serious wind. Q: You have gone to great pains to tell me what the catch is NOT, now please tell me what the catch IS? A: You will be needing to provide your own food and drink, unless you have provided us a provisioning list and budget 2 or 3 weeks before your arrival, or have booked a day-trip with bbq. The Bbq price includes SOME beer and soft-drinks, but not as "drink as much as you like" unless you specify before hand. We can NOT guarentee the weather. Yachts have limited fresh-water on board. The skipper is well versed in where we can top-up the tanks. Regarding the water, I was one of 3 people on board (as skipper) during the delivery of "Pink Panther" from South Africa to Greece. the longest we had to go without filling up our 250l water tank was 28 days, and we managed. Anything is possible if people are considerate. Typically, however, we fill up every 3 to 4 days. Q. Do people need to take anti-seasick tabs? A: No, well very very seldom. In truth, everyone is prone to motion-sickness at some point, but VERY VERY seldom on a catamaran on the Med, and even less so around where we sail. More often then not the 'slightly upset tummy' syndrome is more related to too many tequilas than to motion illness. Q: Can you arrange flights and transfers for us? A: Yes. We have a very good working relationship with a local travel agent who knows all the ins and outs of getting people to the island, and to the yachts. The longer lead-time we have, the better price we can usually get for you. You can also look HERE on how to get to us. Q: What do we bring with us? A: This is summer in the med. It is HOT. Sunscreen is a must, as are sunglasses. There can be a lot of reflection off the water, so a good pair is required, and sunscreen a little stronger than what you would normally wear. Most people bring a varity of sunscreen and 'work' their way towards the lower SPF factors. Bathing suits. Sundresses. shorts. Not much else is required. My mom (a vetran at this now) brings all her stuff in her handbag and carry-on luggage. For a 2 week stay. A word on clothing and Greek Law. Greek law does not provide for nude bathing (or top-less either). Rather the law (simplified) says "As long as you do not offend anyone- especially the locals" On a yacht, the only people you may need to worry about are the other guests that you bring with you. The skipper is immune to be being offended.
